"I heard about América Solidaria through my friend Sofia Jacob, who was a volunteer in Colombia and ended up staying there to continue working with vulnerable children. Being a partner makes me feel a participant in the cause, since by giving my contribution every month I feel I am giving more days of accommodation for the volunteers and thus, they can help more people. My dream of a more united America is that there are more organizations focused on social issues, because that way you could reach more communities and more people can escape poverty. For me there are two types of poverty, one is the type everyone links to the purchasing power of people, but there is also a poverty of the heart that is human, the lack of humility, and it is there where we must work to form a better society. So, I would tell people to stop navel gazing and help somehow, that do not see poverty as something distant and that by helping the rest, they can help themselves. I see my friend Sophie, who is able to take off her shoes and give them to a child and is happy doing it."
